Abstract 
本研究では、運動神経疾患の一つである筋萎縮性側索硬化症の新規治療法開発に向けた研究を行った。病態とともに増加するD-セリンを抑えるため、増加に最も寄与の高い調節因子を検索したところ、小脳や脊髄に特異的に発現するD-アミノ酸オキシダーゼの発現および活性の低下が本疾患で著しいことが明らかとなった。この酵素の活性を上昇させるような治療が有効である可能性を、本研究によって明らかにした。
