Abstract 
「全身性に投与されたNGALがグラム陰性桿菌に対する静菌作用を介さず致死的な過度の炎症反応を抑止し宿主予後を改善する」との仮説を立て、侵襲モデルへの外因性NGAL全身投与による転機と機序を探求することを目的として研究を行った。仮説に対して外因性NGAL投与が内毒素投与または腹膜炎惹起全身性炎症モデル動物の生存率を改善させるという結果は得られなかった。
We tested the hypothesis that NGAL, known as a potent immunomodulator, would improve the outcomes of rats with excessive inflammatory responses. We were unable to show the beneficial influence of NGAL on the outcome.
