| Abstract |
わが国で文学史的な評価が低く、深く研究されてこなかったフランス自然主義文学に焦点を据えながら、文学作品において身体、病理、感覚のテーマがどのように語られてきたかを考察した。その際、文学史的な観点からだけでなく、文化史の方法も採り入れながら、文学と医学的あるいは生理学的言説のつながりを問いかけた。その結果分かったのは、ゾラやゴンクールなどが、同時代の医学の知を物語の展開や登場人物の造形に活用することで、独自の身体表象を創りあげたということである。
I questioned the way in which literature represents the body, the pathology and sensations, focusing my study on the French naturalistic novel, hardly appreciated and hardly studied in Japan. I thought about the link between literature and medical or physiological discourse in terms of both literary history and cultural history. I showed that Zola and Goncourt, for example, inserted medical knowledge in the construction of the story and characters, creating an original image of the body.
