| Abstract |
20世紀前半のエジプト地方社会では, 19世紀初頭以降に進展した農業開発により衛生状態の悪化が見られたが, その対策として講じられたであろう医療・衛生事業の実態には未だ不明な点が多い。本研究は, 当時出版された政府刊行物や雑誌を収集・参照することによりその解明を目指した。当初想定していたよりも史料的制約が大きく, 当該地方社会における当該事業の実態について十全に解明し得たとは言えないが, 今後の研究の基礎となる関連史料を収集したほか, 医療・衛生問題に対する当時の知識人の関心が, 都市生活に関係するものに集まっていたことも新たに把握できた。
In the early 20th century, rural Egypt faced the deterioration of hygiene condition due to agricultural development since 19th century. This study aims to unravel the details of measures taken by the Egyptian government to improve the rural health. However, through collecting historical records, most of intellectuals at that time were mainly interested not in the affairs related to rural area, but urban spaces.
