本稿では, 一時点における相対所得の水準ではなく, 相対所得の変化が一般的信頼度に与える影響について, 実証分析を行った。男性の場合, 相対所得の上昇が一般的信頼度に影響を与えていた。一方, 女性の場合も相対所得の上下が一般的信頼度を変化させていたが, その影響は男性の場合より小さかった。また, 相対所得が大きく上昇するほど一般的信頼度が高まるわけではなく, 両者の関係はより複雑なものであることが明らかになった。
This study performs an empirical analysis on the effect of relative income transition on generalized trust, instead of a relative income standard at a certain point in time. 
For males, increases in relative income influenced generalized trust. 
On the other hand, although increases or decreases in relative income have affected changes in generalized trust for females as well, this impact was smaller for females when compared to that for males. 
In addition, a greater increase in relative incomes does not imply an improvement in generalized trust, indicating that the relationship between the two is more complex than expected.
