【目的】知識組織化体系(Knowledge Organization Systems, KOS)の要素のSimple Knowledge Organization System(SKOS)による表現方法が提案または使用された多くの研究事例がある。しかし, 同じ要素でも表現方法が研究事例によって異なることがある。本稿はKOSの同じ要素の表現方法が研究事例間で異なる原因を分析する。
【方法】本稿はKOSの中でも分類法に着目する。分類法の要素で, SKOSでの表現方法が研究事例によって異なるのは, センタードエントリー, 分類記号と分類項目名, 補助表である。研究事例におけるこれらの要素のSKOS化過程を比較し, 表現方法が異なる原因を考察する。
【結果】表現方法が研究事例間で異なったのは, センタードエントリーと補助表に関しては解釈の違いが, また, 分類記号と分類項目名に関しては優先事項の違いが原因と考えられる。解釈とは表現される要素を理解する仕方である。優先事項とは, skos : prefLabelの一意性やSKOSデータのわかりやすさなど, SKOS化を行う上で表現者が優先するものである。優先事項により, 各表現方法の利点, 欠点のどれを重視するかが異なる。
Purpose : Previous studies have either proposed or used the Simple Knowledge Organization System (SKOS) as a method for representing the elements of Knowledge Organization Systems (KOS). However, SKOS representations of the same element in different studies sometimes differed from one another. This study examines the causes of this.
Methods : This paper focuses on the classification schemes among KOSs. SKOS representations of each element of a KOS, i.e., "centered entry," "notation and heading," and "auxiliary tables," are different in previous studies. The study compares the processes of representing these elements in SKOS and considers the causes of the difference in representations.
Results : The cause of the difference in representation for "centered entry" and "auxiliary tables" could be the difference in interpretation in different studies, while that for "notation and heading" could be the difference in priorities between previous studies. "Interpretation" is the way the element to be represented is understood. "Priorities" are things that someone prefers at the time of SKOS representation, such as uniqueness of skos : prefLabel or perspicuity of SKOS data. Which merits and demerits of each SKOS representation are emphasized depends on the "Priorities."
